Voting is a unique process. We in this country have come however to take it for granted. No nation, ever has committed itself to being governed by the very people over which the rulers are supposed to rule.
That simply doesn’t make sense. “But certainly there have been exceptions?”, you might ask.
Well, yes, there have been historical experiments and occasional minor instances of voting on non-essential issues. But to purposely construct your nation’s government to be “. . .of the people, by the people and for the people. . .”?
Ridiculous! Unheard of! Too weak, too fragile, too inconsistent, too spurious, too ignorant!
Every one of these objections certainly came up while the founding fathers were debating the very structure of this new free land. And in essence they were all valid points. Which is why when the word “Democracy” came up it was rejected out of hand. A nation cannot be run day to day by all concerned members or even by committee. Thus our current experimental but enduring and workable structure known as a “Democratic Republic”.
But over time as the nation has grown, our most cherished and prized privilege known as our right to vote has been downplayed to the level of an annoyance or even immaterial. Kind of like jury duty. . .but that’s for another book.
Forty percent turnout of those qualified and registered to vote is often considered to be substantial. Why are many of those that are qualified not registered? And even more surprising, why are those who are not only qualified but have taken the trouble to register, not voting?
With our nation’s population approaching half a billion, many simply are frustrated, saying their single vote simply does not count any more. Others will say that corruption is so prevalent on both (all) sides that no choice is clear. Still others have seen promises during the campaign either fade when elected officials get hijacked by PAC’s and persuasive cronies with other ideas; or even appear to have been just empty gestures dangled as bait to garner votes.
Who can blame them? The system appears to have gone from “The Great Experiment” to a “Hopeless Hoax”.
But there is hope. The Great Experiment has not failed. We’ve just been duped into inaction by those promoting the negative and ignoring the positive side of a miraculously well functioning structure that is as viable and alive and well as it has ever been.
And this little book contains the surprising answer to revitalizing the process and bringing real benefit to this country, its government and most importantly to you and me as the real force behind this God-blessed land.
You may find this simple plan, utopian or irrational and even impossible. And I hate to disappoint but if you’re looking for the final answer to which party, candidate or issue to get behind; it’s not in here.[1] Besides, you’ve got plenty of Facebook, email and junk mail touting every conceivable combination within those stress-inducing categories already.
But keep reading. I think you just might be surprised.
But this is not just about getting you out to vote. The guaranteed plan that follows will show you exactly how to vote and how to affect the results nationwide. Seriously.
